• Resurrection Plant
This plant, found in the deserts of South Africa, uses a miraculous survival system which allows it to avoid death in environments where prolonged periods of drought are followed by sudden and intense rain. During the drought periods, this plant goes into a state of anabiosis (reduced metabolism or hibernation), only to be “resurrected” when provided moisture. That is, during the drought the plant appears dry and dead and then is quickly re-hydrated and normal cellular functions are restored with the rain. This plant is extremely rich in anti-oxidants and is especially helpful in rectifying oxidative changes caused by UV.
